Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojo Entry

I'm entering a layout in Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojo. You can find their post here.

This was the sketch:

Here is my layout:

I think the printed papers are DCWV. I know the floral one is but I'm not sure about the stripe. The title was cut using my Cricut E2 and the American Alphabet cartridge. The little crown was cut using Alphalicious.

I will try and get a better picture tomorrow. Its late and dark and this is due within 90 mins.

DCWV's November Stack-A-Holic Template Challenge

I'm entering again this month. The deadline is tonight at midnight so you have a bit of time left if you want to get a layout done! As usual, I'm getting mine in at the last minute. I've actually done 2 but not sure if I can enter 2 so I need to check the rules first.

Here is the template:
And here is the link to the contest!

This is the first layout I did:
The paper is from the Summer Dreamin' stack except for the bit of dark blue. That was just something I had and I'm not sure what manufacturer. But once it was done, I wasn't loving it. I think its my stamping. I need more practice. I started out okay at the top with my stitch stamp ($1 bin at Michael's) but then got a bit messy and crooked.

So then I made this one:
All the paper on this is from The Stack 7. The picture of Megan isn't that dark in real life but I cannot get a better picture of it.

All the cuts on both layouts were done with the cricut cartridge Elegant Edges.

I'm entering the 2nd layout in the contest unless both can be submitted.

4th of July layout

Sorry for the bad picture. I'm trying to get this posted really quick so I can enter it in My Pink Stamper's My Pinkalicious Blog Hop and Challenge, Nov 2011. Its still Sunday where I live for a little over an hour so hopefully I make the deadline!

The challenge was to make a layout or mini album and use a Cricut machine and her stamps if you have them! I only have one set, "Happiest Moments" and I stamped "Happy Fourth" down the left side! The fireworks were cut from Lyrical Letters at 3in and then I added a little glitter glue to them.

I'm also going to enter this in the Magazine Inspired Challenge at Get Inspired with Chatterscene! My inspiration came from Creating Keepsakes Oct 2011 magazine on page 38.

Birthday Card/Get Inspired with Chatterscene's Magazine Challenge

Chris at Get Inspired with Chatterscene is having a Magazine Inspired Challenge. You can find the details HERE! You could win a $15 Hobby Lobby gift card!

My mom's birthday was yesterday and we're getting together on Sunday to celebrate so I made her a card. Nothing too fancy. I'm entering it in the challenge!

I have no clue what paper or cardstock other than I'm guessing DCWV. I added some buttons with thread and also a little glitter glue (Studio G).

Now, please don't laugh but this was my inspiration:

This picture is from Disney's Oct 2011 Family Fun Magazine, pg 69 and YES, its a Goldfish crackers ad! But I LOVE the colors and I've seen it in a few magazines and every time I see it, I'm drawn to the colors. So I went in my room and dug out papers to match!

The contest ends November 14, 2011 at 12 noon EST! You still have time to enter!

I've also been playing with ink today! I was making lots of my kids' handprints and I'm hoping to finish a gift for my mom tomorrow and share early next week!!

Win a Luau Cricut Cartridge!!

My friend Chris at Get Inspired With Chatterscene is giving away a Luau Cartridge when she hits 500 followers! She's getting so close! Only 25 more!! Click HERE for details!

Surfer Girl

I had a couple hours of alone time yesterday and did a LO of my DD from when she was 6ish months old. I have to look up the exact date before I do my journalling.

I cut the surf board using Life's A Beach (3 or 3.5 inches) and the title was with Lyrical Letters at 2 inches.

Kimberli's Creations Halloween Blog Hop!

Good morning and welcome to our Halloween blog hop! We have several talented ladies who will be sharing fun Halloween projects with you today, to hopefully inspire you to create some Halloween crafts of your own! If you just happened upon my blog, please go to Kimberli's blog to start from the beginning, so you don't miss anything! There will be some fun giveaways along the way, so be sure to hop by each of the blogs so you don't miss any!

I've created a few projects for this hop. I wanted to stray away from my typical simple layout and card. I ended up making a banner, a "candle" (originally planned a lantern but plans changed!) and I altered a frame.

First up is my Halloween Banner. I used pumpkin paper from the DCWV Autumn Amber stack. The black and white polka dots is also DCWV but that was loose paper purchased from Joann's. The font is from the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge set at 2.5in. The base is from Elegant Edges. I used my Gypsy for all of this and the height of the shapes is 4in and 4.65in. I was having a lot of trouble deciding how to string the banner together until I saw this sheer ribbon at Joann's! I love the polka dot paper so this was perfect!

Next is my "candle". I've been seeing lanterns made with the Cricut and wanted to try it. It didn't work so well and I think my issue was that I was trying to make it small. So instead of a lantern, I changed it to a candle! I used the same "base" from my banner. I took about a 1in thick piece of vellum and scored it in half and then trimmed it so I could make a circle and glued that to the base. Then my candle is simply a sheet of vellum with a spider web frame layered over it. This cut is also found on Happy Hauntings. I started out with 2 frames, welded them together and adjusted the width to 9 inches. After that, I unlinked the height and width and changed the height to 4.5inches. I used a stamp from the dollar bin at Michael's and embossed with an iridescent powder. I glued the ends together and placed it over my base. I have a battery powered candle inside of it.

And finally, my last project was a frame. I took an old wood frame from Ikea and glued the DCWV polka dot paper to it and trimmed off the excess. I stamped and embossed the spider webs and spider on the same paper and layered it over the frame. I used a stamp from the same set and stamped and embossed Happy halloween, added some of the ribbon and then attached it to the frame. Its not perfect but not too bad for a first attempt. The only issue I had was that the white ink seems to smudge even once its embossed. I use Color Box ink and don't have this issue with my other colors. However, they are old and the white is brand new. Maybe something has changed?

And because you made it through my very long post, I'm giving away a little something. When shopping for supplies, I picked up 2 mat stacks and 2 stamp sets and the extras could be yours! :) Just leave a comment and a way to contact you and I'll draw a winner on Monday, Oct. 31. (U.S. Residents only. Sorry!) Also, if you have an awesome white ink for embossing, please share what it is! I definitely need a new one!

Quick birthday card

My BIL's girlfriend's (I really should just start calling her my SIL!) birthday is on Monday so I had to get a card in the mail today. I procrastinated as usual and then had to rush to get a very simple card done. The flowers were from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge. I cut them for a LO I did a few months ago and saved the extras! I was so glad I did! I added a little bling to the centers with my iRock tool. I cut the shape for the inside using Elegant Edges. So its nothing fancy but at least M will know we're thinking of her!

My brother's birthday is on Tuesday so I have another card to make by Sunday for his birthday dinner with the family! I have no idea what to make though. He's definitely the hardest one to make stuff for!

DCVW Stack-a-holic Template Challenge

I'm entering this layout in the DCWV template challenge! Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

I used the Amber Autumn Stack! Surprised? Its mostly red and orange but I found a few pink and brown patterns in it that worked perfectly with Megan's picture from her FIRST birthday!

I finally managed to make something!

Of course, I was forced to do this today because my SIL's birthday is in 2 days and it has to go in the mail TODAY so she gets it on time. Not sure if I'll get her a gift on time but at the very least, she'll get a card on time! ;) Forced or not, it was nice being in my room again!

I used Create A Critter to make this card. I'm trying to use my Gypsy to weld and make shape cards but its just not lining up right. I even watched a video and did exactly what it said (pick 1 shape, make a copy of that shape, flip the copy, made sure the Y points were equal and then weld) and it still doesn't line up just right. Oh well....this one was at least better than my last one! I also used my iRock and added a little bow! I think she turned out cute! :)

I've been so busy....

but not crafting! Between being sick, a heatwave, switching our internet, phone and tv provider, my house being an absolute disaster, school starting and soccer starting, I haven't been in my scraproom at all this month! My oldest went to a birthday party on Saturday and I had to (oh the horror!) BUY a card!!! There just wasn't time to make one.

I finally went to the doctor and my drugs are making me happy (and sleepy!), dh helped clean the house today and my internet is running again! Now I might just have time to scrap this week! Not tonight though. I have 4 loads of laundry waiting for me on my bed! :(

I should know better....

than to scrap while sick! lol! I wanted to finish up one more layout for Chris's School Time Challenge on Chatterscene and stayed up way too late the other night and now I have a LO that I'm not sure I like. Here it is:

So its not horrible but after a week of very little sleep, I thought my orange was way too bright and decided it would be a good idea to try and tone it down with some black ink. I should have left it alone! I will probably be redoing my title, arrow and tag! And I wish I had used something other than my ATG because I may have to redo the whole thing if removing those items tears too much of the cardstock base! I used Plantin Schoolbook for the tag, Cricut Essentials for the arrow and American Alpha for the title.

Oh and my title isn't exactly right either. This was just Cameron's 1st day of his 2nd year of preschool but "1st day of Year 2" or anything like that wasn't working for me so I figured I'd fib a bit and call it Pre-K! Haha! It WAS the year before Kindergarten! :)

New birthday cards!

Just a couple of cards to share that I made before going on vacation!

The cat card was made with Create A Critter and I didn't put a lot of effort into it. We were running late to the party and I had waited until last minute to make it. Oh well. The little girl's grandma loved it even if it was really simple! People really do appreciate the extra time and effort put into a homemade card. No matter how simple!

The Sweet 16 card was made using the Smiley Card cartridge on my Gypsy. It was my first attempt at a shape card and it didn't go so well. I had to hand trim the back layer some because it was showing through. Going to have to work on those more. And please forgive the crappy picture. I was getting ready to go out of town and my camera battery was dead. I snapped a quick cell phone pic before I ran the card to the mailbox. I didn't want to forget to mail it while we were out of town but the car was cute and I wish I had gotten a better pic. The darker pink is actually a tiny flower print paper, the headlights I used a glitter glue on and the license plate was stamped and heat embossed.

Project #2 for Chatterscene School Time challenge

This is my 2nd layout for the contest on Chatterscense. You can find more info about it on Chris's blog Get Inspired with ChatterScene! I'm not 100% sure I like the apple at the top. I'm going to add my journalling to it. I don't like posting certain info online so I tend to take a picture and then journal. :) I'm debating on switching it with a half circle at the top. I'll see how I feel after I get my journalling done. I used Plantin Schoolbook for the apple and tag at the bottom. It has an End Caps feature that allows you to create long titles like this. The only problem I had was that it skipped cutting under some of the letters so I had to hand cut parts along the bottom. I also used a stamp from Stampin Up to add "first day" and "of" to the tag. The stamp actually said "first day (on top of) of school" so I had to ink "first day", stamp, clean it, ink "of" and stamp again. And now that I'm done typing this, I'm think I may move the apple to the top left for the year and do my journalling in a half circle on the top right.

Chatterscene Challenges

I'm entering this layout in the Chatterscene School Time Challenge. I used the American Alpha font from the Cricut E2 for my title and the red stars. I used punches for the other stars. I'm also entering this in the August DCWV Stack-a-holic Template challenge. All my pattern papers are from the DCWV "The Stack 6" and "The Stack 7" paper stacks. :)

Chris at Get Inspired with Chatterscene is also having a give away for reaching 400 follwers. You can check out that post here!

Win a Joann's gift card!

My friend Chris at Get Inspired with Chatterscene is having a school time challenge! Go check it out. I'll post my first layout for it tomorrow!

Birthday Card

My friend Kim at Kimberli's Creations is having a challenge/give away for hitting 100 followers. The challenge is to create a project using a Cricut cartridge you've barely used. I decided to go the extra mile ;) and used THREE neglected cartridges! I used Paper Pups for the dog, party hat and presents. I used Zooballoo for the grass and clouds. The little bird is from Animal Kingdom.

I'm also entering this in My Pink Stampers My Pinkalicious Blog Hop Friday challenge. The challenge there was to create a project showing your style. I think this fits. I've been doing a lot of cards lately and this is fairly simple which is DEFINITELY me! :)

Going to try this!

I figure I have this blog so I might as well use it. Please don't expect too much out of me. :)
